Fresh brain, please?

The earth beneath your feet is pitch-black and the air circling around you is so hot that your body feels like it’s about to boil. You blink constantly to prevent the heat from burning your eyes. A slow flowing river of lava and an ominous red moon colours this landscape in a tone of menacing red.

From the ground they come. Gnawing, thumping noises are heard before a detestable form lifts itself up from the hole it made in the black dead soil.
Its skin looks sickly and thin and it has a stumpy body of equine origin with tangled mane and tail but it is about the size of a larger dog with sharp canines.

Others of its kind are already waiting above ground to devour their flesh as they emerge from below. To them it doesn't matter that they belong to the same disgusting breed.
They are hungry-

A brutal slaughter takes place before your eyes and the air is filled with their sinister voices. These are not ‘living’ creatures. Their eyes glow with the same intensive flare as the hot lava and their faces seems to be frozen in a demented grin. They don't pity their existence; in fact, they seem to enjoy their cruel ways. Neither mercy nor pity will ever stop them from killing whatever comes in their way.

As you realize all of this, there's only one question that remains unanswered-
Why are you standing on their graves....?

My entry for =WrathOfNessis Horror Horse Halloween contest.
It required a short story and as I have no talent in writing this became pretty hard!
I really did try but in the end the short story probably took as long to write as the entire piece took me to draw
...This is why I rarely draw comics...

Besides my null confident in writing I very much enjoyed drawing this(!!!)
It's certainly a trend-breaker for me to draw something gory. This little creature looks like a evil My Little Pony (shock anyone?). Personally I think he's cute but I better put this under mature content nevertheless, hehe.
You go right ahead and give him a hug. I have some business to attend to... Way over in that other direction
