Blue Landscape by AnnieMsson Blue Landscape by AnnieMsson
I guess this is one of my first honest try to do a landscape.
To begin with I only wanted to paint a tree but that would have made a pretty boring painting... so I picked out my acrylics. This was made using three colours only, titanium white, cobalt blue and phthalocyanine blue.
Blue isn't my favourite colour but I thought it would fit the atmosphere XD

I like this, the way you have wrapped the tree around itself and the linear style that gives the piece a strange and windy movement about it. I did a similair thing with the lines around the tree a while back - it's quite a nice technique to explore

I was searching for some good festuca glauca (ornamental blue grass) stock when I came across your lovely picture. I like the way the willow fronds are like those on a traditional willow pattern plate, and the twisty sinuousness of the trunk is fab! Beautiful moonlit scene does not give me the blues. :+fav:

It's beautiful.
I'm not sure if this will mean anything to you - but it reminds me of Melee Island from the Monkey Island series.
That's a compliment anyway!

Blue is beautiful! I totally suck with acryllics, so I envy this
The only problem with using the same color would be getting a lot of depth. There's depth in the foreground and the background, but not much in the midground (where the land meets the sea). Still, it's totally beautiful, and the creative styling of the tree makes the picture look like a fairty tale !!

Excellent work! I've done something similiar, but with black and white (a combination that bothers =me=). Rocky slopes, tufted with grass beneath the moon... with dragon figures hidden in the stones. Love how it turned out, even if it was way back in college... maybe I'll post it.

Black and white is indeed a hard combo to master but it can create some really cool effects :D

I learned to hate the combo in high school, when they were THE color combo to wear... bloody easy to "match"; anyone with NO color sense at all could be "cool".

Bah! Boring, I called it, and the lazy way to call fashion. ANY color looks good with black... why use a non-color like white, when there are so many other shades to use?!?

Hehe, true, but it's one thing to dress in that combo and another to use it for painting.
More skills are needed for the later ;)

I love the tree! It seems to be created more by majic than nature--all twisty and lined with dew! Lovely landscape! So peaceful. If I was a teenager again, it would be the perfect romantic spot!
